impak’s Independent Methodology Committee Begins Work
impak’ leadership in impartial impact assessment now advised by renowned impact experts

Montreal, Paris, November 5th, 2020:  impak, the independent impact rating agency, announces today the first meeting of its independent methodology committee, composed of internationally renowned experts in the field of environmental and social impact measurement and management. The committee’s mission is to advise the impak team so that it maintains its leadership in terms of impartial impact assessment, which is the foundation of its key products:  the impact statement and the impak Score.

The committee, that will meet on a regular basis to work with impak’s internal methodology committee, is composed of Laura Palmeiro, Senior Advisor at UN Global Compact and former Sustainability Integration Director at Danone; Olivia Prentice, COO and Head of Content at the Impact Management Project; Stephanie Robertson, Founder and Chief Impact Officer at SiMPACT Strategy Group, and Board Chair at Social Value Canada; and Léa Dunand Chatellet, Head of Responsible Investment at DNCA, a Natixis subsidiary.

“We are extremely happy to create this committee composed of international leaders who, by their commitment, recognize our expertise on issues around environmental and social impact assessment”, said Paul Allard, impak Finance’s CEO and Co-founder.

An urgent need

“Transparent and comparable ratings are a critical piece of the puzzle for the sector to grow; they help companies and their investors understand and benchmark their performance, enabling quicker data-driven decision-making”, added Olivia Prentice, COO and Head of Content at the Impact Management Project.

With assets under management that integrate environmental, social and governance (ESG) criteria reaching 40,000 billion dollars in 2020, it appears essential to empower asset managers, institutional investors and financial institutions with a transparent and comparable methodology based on international standards. The independent methodology committee will therefore work to adapt and scale impak’s methodology so that it can meet today and tomorrow’s market needs relative to social and environmental impact assessment.
