After the International Financial Reporting Standards Foundation announced the creation of the International Sustainability Standards Board (the ISSB) at COP26 last November, we turned our attention to how this might impact the financial industry.

The numerous questions raised by this announcement with regard to ESG accountability and the effects it will have on regulatory standards for extra-financial reporting remain to be seen. However, for Canada, this represents an opportunity to position itself as a leader in the sustainable finance scene of tomorrow.
